Fighting For Service Members Injured By Defective Ear Plugs
From 2003 to 2015, 3M supplied Combat Arms Earplugs to military members serving overseas and within the U.S. These dual-sided earplugs were designed to reduce harmful noises caused in the battlefield and in training sessions.
According to documents filed in a whistleblower lawsuit against 3M, however, the manufacturer knew that this ear protection was defective before it received its contract and while it fulfilled its contract with the military. Allegations state that the company knew that the earplugs were defective and falsified documentation about the earplug’s effectiveness. Rather than muffling loud sounds, the earplugs allowed these sounds to enter the ear canal and cause permanent damage.
