Tesla accused of providing an unsafe work environment

Most people going to work every day are concerned about performing their duties to the best of their abilities so that they can continue to provide for their families. Very few workers are concerned about their workplace safety. This is usually because federal, state, and local regulations and laws require employers to take certain steps to ensure that their employees are kept as safe as possible. This may include providing adequate training, safety equipment, and maintaining all machinery in a safe condition.

Unfortunately, though, far too many employers fail to adhere to these safety standards, which can result in workplace accidents and injuries. One California-based company, Tesla, is now under the microscope after a rash of workplace injuries. Most recently, a 30-year-old man working as a subcontractor for the company as a millwright suffered a broken jaw after being hit by a piece of equipment that is used in the assembly line process. Other reports have indicated that employees at Tesla have suffered back injuries, harm related to repetitive stress, and even negative effects due to exposure to toxic fumes.

Tesla has tried to distance itself from the reports, claiming that some of the injuries were suffered away from its plant and that the 30-year-old who suffered a broken jaw was under the supervision of a contractor, not Tesla. However, the incidences of workplace injuries at Tesla exceed the industry average, giving rise for concern and justifying further investigation.

Those who are injured in these types of incidences will likely face damages in a number of ways. They will, of course, lose wages due to missed work, but they may also incur unexpected medical expenses. Workers' compensation may be able to help cover these losses, and in the event that the negligence of another also contributed to the harm suffered, a companion third-party claim may be filed. These matters are often fraught with legal complications, though, which means that those who are about to take legal action may want to discuss the matter with an attorney of their choosing.
